Arnie Van Der Full

Биография

Who am I? Welcome to my musical space, dear ladies and gentlemen and you'll find out yourselves! ;-)

I'm Arnie van der Full and here's a few words I got to say about myself.

My journey to the dark and artificially lighted world of clubs and a bright ;-))) world of contemporary music began at the very end of the 20th century. As short ago as it is, it already sounds far away, since now it's already 21st century, and more than a decade of time has passed.

Back then, in 1998 I was just selling records in downtown Amsterdam. Keeping it cool, taking my part in a little business, set up by my friend Raymond K. The best thing about it - all of the first major releases of the upsurge led by the phuture heavyweights of the English, Dutch and German club scene have come through my hands. And I mean vinyls, which were pressed in amounts which barely reached 3 digit numbers. How lucky is that? Easily getting 12''s eagerly coveted by many ;-)

Around 2000 at the time of the great "Problem 2000" hysteria I got my hands on a pair of old Technics decks, which were pretty beat up, smelled like a night club — tobacco and generously covered by stains obviously left by beer, martini and some other alcoholic beverages, installed them in our record shop and started playing around with those wonderful pieces of equipment, learning the simple and yet sophisticated ;-)))) art of djing. It started off really good, I must have been a natural in beatmatching, and what's great - I had enough records! Hundreds of them. ))))

The next year I landed my first gig at a local nightclub in Amsterdam Centrum. It was trance - back then this genre was the trendiest and freshest style. "Wow! This is like techno with melody," - I uttered to myself when we received some of the fresh tracks done by jocks like James Holden, Moogwai and Rank 1. Then came some lately popular releases by Tiesto, Ferry Corsten (Goryuella), and Paul van Dyk and that was really a moment when trance was felt for the first time by crowds across the Europe...

Afterwards, everything went straight to the point where I wanted to be. Music day and night, djing at clubs and spending the rest of the day working and searching through new material at the recordshop...

In 2004 I met a hard-line meloman, virtually a musical maniac, dj and producer in the great person of Morgan May and together with a few other stalwarts of the club scene we started a promotion and booking agency named Flashback Studio Amsterdam...

Right now, I feel that I've seen quite a bunch of clubs, hundreds of them, big, small, trendy & posh venues for yuppies & dotcom millionaires and some f*cked up joints full of junkies and underground clubs for "members only." I've been around the world. But still, I get the feeling that european clubs - the place where trance and progressive (and before that - techno) has found itself for the first time in hands of musical enthusiasts - is the place to be, and the place to create.

So be my guest, feel free to check out my stuff, talk, ask, make friends - whatever you feel like doing. I'm open for communication.

Love you all,

Arnie.
